Apoquel for dogs is formulated with Oclacitinib (5.4 mg), a synthetic Janus Kinase (JAK) inhibitor. It works by inhibiting the functions of various pruritogenic and pro-inflammatory cytokines. This hinders the activities of JAK1 or JAK3(itch-causing enzymes) and provides prompt relief by preventing the transmission of the itch signal to the brain.
